Cavapoo

The Cavapoo puppies are a cross-breed, the result of a mating between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Mini Poodle. They are also known as Cavoodle or Cavadoodle. The appearance of the Cavapoo dog can vary greatly depending on the genes each parent contributes; but they usually have a Poodle-like coat that can be curly, shaggy, or wavy. They may also have long floppy ears like their Cavalier parent or straight ears like their Poodle parent. The most common coat color is apricot, but there are also black and white Cavapoos. Their eyes are often large and round as well as being very dark in color.
Cavapoo History
First bred in the United States in the 1990’s, the Cavapoo breed is a mix of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Mini/Toy Poodle. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an elegant, royal, Toy Spaniel, slightly longer than tall, with moderate bones. They have a silky, smooth coat and long ears. The eyes are large and dark. The Toy Poodle has a fine, thick curly coat that does not shed much. Their coats come in many colors including: black, blue, silver, brown, café-au-lait and cream. Cavapoo puppies are friendly and energetic dogs that make excellent family companions.

The Cavapoo breed tends to be playful and energetic, but not overly so. They can be taught many tricks and will happily participate in any activities you want them to do.
Cavapoo Grooming Requirements
This is a low shedding breed, so there will be very little hair left behind on your furniture, clothes or carpets. Brushing your Cavapoo puppy is an important part of grooming, and it’s something you should start from when your pup is a baby. Getting your puppy used to having his coat brushed will help keep tangles at bay, meaning less matting in the future. Brushing will also help distribute natural oils through the coat, making it more healthy and shiny. Though you can keep the coat long, most owners opt for a shorter style to keep them looking neat. When it comes to bathing your adult Cavapoo, this should be done only once every 6 weeks or so. Bathing too often can lead to dry skin and irritations due to over-washing. To ensure that you aren’t bathing too much, use a soft brush on a weekly basis instead of bathing. This will also help remove loose hairs from the coat and make it look much cleaner. You’ll want to use a dog-specific shampoo.
